As the Witcher 3 shows multiple times, the main goal of Geralt’s titular profession is to hunt down monsters and protect the common folk.

However, seeing as Witcher 3 is an RPG with moral choices and branching paths, you obviously can choose to go against this principle. As a matter of fact, if the monster is particularly powerful, you might even get a hefty reward for letting it terrorize the people around you.

Doing the latter (as in letting O’Dimm consume Olgierd’s soul right in front of you) lets you pick your reward from a range of supernatural prizes, such as a saddle that makes your horse super fast, or magic items that give you an infinite amount of alcohol and food.
