Whether or not you agree that there are far too many remakes and remasters these days, at least they don't take the original version away, right?

Well, in the case of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, that's not quite right.

Warcraft III's remaster, Warcraft III: Reforged, was released in 2020 and promised all the expected glossy bells and whistles to bring the near-two-decade game up to contemporary standards.

Yet it eventually released to wide disdain from critics and fans, who hated the changes made to the user interface, underwhelming new visuals, abundance of bugs, removal of basic features included in the original version of the game, and absence of countless promised new features.

Worst of all, because Reforged was a free upgrade for Warcraft III owners and shared the same game client, it automatically updated the original Warcraft III into its inferior Reforged version, forcing players to play it this way with no means to simply play the original version of the game.

Ultimately many Warcraft fans opted to "sail the highs seas" to play Warcraft III as originally intended, and without any other option to play the version of the game they paid for, can you really blame them?
