10 Video Games That Secretly Change Without You Noticing
9. The Fate Of White Orchard - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015)
Almost an entire decade after its release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains one of the most epic and enthralling RPGs of all time due to its richly written narrative and collection of consistently excellent questlines.
As Geralt sets out on his search to find his surrogate daughter, players are required to make a lot of difficult choices which will have massive consequences for those involved.
While the results of some of these choices are immediately obvious, others were less so. One overlooked consequence of the player's actions being the fate of White Orchard towards the end of Geralt's adventure.
Throughout the game, a brutal war rages in the background between the northern kingdoms and invading forces from Nilfgaard. The effects of the fighting can be seen everywhere across the war-torn lands. However, players can directly influence which side wins, with the effects becoming visible in White Orchard.
If the war ends in peace, Nilfgaardian soldiers are seen leaving the area while villagers acclimate to their new situation. If Redania triumphs, though, the area is dotted with executed villagers and burned-down homes as new occupiers take over.
Whatever the result, the players actions played a key role in determining White Orchard's fate.
