Now we launch ourselves into the world of the undead with Grim Fandango, released by LucasArts on PC back in 1998. This game was recently remastered for a number of platforms due to the popularity of the Manny Calavera, a travel agent who is on a mission to save Mercedes "Meche" Colomar in the Land of The Dead. This game is based around Mexican calaca figures, film noir, Aztec architecture and incorporates elements of jazz and black comedy. The style, story and characterisation in Grim Fandango quickly resonated with gamers. If Grim Fandango was ever made into a film, it would be a perfect stop motion animation project for Henry Selick, writer and director of Coraline.
