10 Video Games That Should’ve Ended WAY Sooner

2. Final Fantasy XIII

Final Fantasy Xiii Lightning

Many gamers took issue with Final Fantasy XIII, due to the meandering narrative and the fact your party is often controlled by AI. However, it was the linear gameplay that most people took umbrage with. Rather than allowing the player to roam free, the first ten chapters has the player following a set path. Because of these problems, FFXIII was quickly branded as the black sheep of the franchise.

But for some reason, Square Enix thought this dud deserved, not one, but two sequels. Now, expanding the original game could work if the developers learned from their many, many, many mistakes.

Unfortunately, the follow-ups sucked even more, compounding the concerns of the first instalment. What's worse is each entry takes at least 35 hours to finish (not including the side-quests), meaning you have to play for 100+ hours to complete the trilogy.

Because FFXIII is so reviled, it's easy to forget there's a lot of great aspects, including the battle mechanics, the art design, and the garb customisation in the last entry. If FFXIII was condensed into a single title, with only the good qualities from each of the three games, we could've had an awesome RPG.
