10 Video Games That Sold MILLIONS (Despite Being Terrible)

4. Resident Evil 6

Grand Theft Auto Definitive Edition
Capcom

Speaking of franchise low-points, here's Resident Evil 6!

Thinking about it, RE6 and CoD: Ghosts have a lot in common. They're both regarded as the worst games in their series, they both suffer from overstuffed, messy campaigns, and they both somehow sold in the tens of millions.

Playing Resident Evil 6, the first thing that strikes you is the weightlessness of the combat. Enemies take far too many bullets to go down, and there's no sense of impact in any of your weapons. Every battle feels like a childhood playfight with that one friend who refused to admit they were dead, and the end result is a series of tedious brawls that go on long past the point of being enjoyable.

The second thing you'll notice is that RE6 would have benefitted enormously from being cut in half. The four-campaign single-player is easily two campaigns too long, as Chris and Jake's stories contain the worst gameplay in Resi history. Chris' story is a dull slog alongside the most boring character to grace a Resi game, and Jake's is so badly designed it will actively piss you off and have you rooting for the little s**t's untimely demise.

A mid-life crisis in video game form, Resident Evil 6 saw Capcom embarrass itself by trying to ape the trends of the time. It didn't work, and Capcom thankfully took the series back to its roots for the stellar Resident Evil 7.
