7. Splatoon 2

While it's hardly a secret that Splatoon 2 was a solid seller on the Nintendo Switch, you might be surprised just how freaking well it actually ended up performing.

The original game, released exclusively on the Wii U, set middling expectations by selling a respectable 4.95 million copies, and few anticipated that the Switch-exclusive sequel would effortlessly double that figure.

To date, Splatoon 2 is rocking 11.90 million copies sold - a 2.40x multiplier. Even accepting that phenomenal success of the Switch - especially in comparison to the bust that was the Wii U - few could've anticipated that Splatoon 2 would become the ninth best-selling Switch game to date.

Incredibly, it's trailing the Pokémon: Let's Go games by barely a million units.

Needless to say, with Splatoon 3 due to drop next year and the Switch now being in over 80 million hands, it won't be quite so surprising when the threequel posts similarly colossal sales figures.
