10 Video Games That Trolled Players In INSANE Ways
4. Treating An Injured Leg With Low Intelligence... Actually Works - Fallout: New Vegas
Intelligence is one of the key stats in the Fallout franchise, and though playing Fallout: New Vegas with purposefully low intelligence is fun for a few specific moments where NPCs react differently to you, overall it's probably not worth doing a full playthrough this way.
And while most of the low intelligence gags basically make fun of how stupid your character is, there's one which actually subverts player expectations entirely.
While aiding Argyll in tending to the wounded Boomers at Nellis medical station in the side-quest "Volare!," you're warned that attempting to operate on a man with a badly wounded leg could kill him, and that a medicine stat of 50 or more is required to pull it off.
Nevertheless, if you select the "CHOP! CHOP! CHOP!" low intelligence option, in a baffling turnaround of fates, it's revealed that your random acts of cutting in fact saved the man's life, while apparently allowing him to somehow keep his leg.
Hilariously, a clearly irritated Argyll then calls your surgery "dumb luck," and he couldn't be more right. Still, it's pretty good going for a dimwit.
