10 Video Games That Use Your Imagination Against You
6. Resident Evil
The original Resident Evil game can be frustrating since the fixed camera angles make it impossible to see around certain corners. When you can hear a zombie shuffling around but can't see it, it drives you crazy since you don't know how close it is. Of course, Capcom did this intentionally to build up as much tension as possible.
You can be strolling down a hallway you have passed ten times only to be interrupted by a zombified Rottweiler crashing through the window. When things like this happen, you realise that you are never safe; even if you are in an empty room that you have been in dozens of times.
In the reboot, Resident Evil Remake, a new zombie was added in called the Crimson Head. If a zombie isn't decapitated or burnt, it will resurrect itself as a Crimson Head later in the game. Every time you walk by a zombie you have killed, you don't know whether it'll jump up to kill you.
Even though the next few sequels were solid entries in the franchise, (Not you, RE6), the first game was the scariest since it relied on suspense and a haunting atmosphere rather than battles with monsters.
