10 Video Games That Were Banned For Seriously Barmy Reasons

3. Assassin's Creed Was Banned In Saudi Arabia For Its Perceived Negative Portrayal Of Arabs (For Two Weeks)

url-21 In the realm of video games, sometimes all it takes is for a person to perceive something - even if it's wrong - in a negative light for a game to get itself entirely and hopelessly banned, as was the case when Assassin's Creed shipped to Saudi Arabia and was greeted with some frowny faces. According to video game officials in Saudi, the game cast a "negative light on Arabs" and was quickly banned, despite the fact that much of the rest of the world had praised Assassin's Creed for its balanced and faithful portrayal of Arab culture. Quite bizarrely, the decision was overturned just two weeks later, presumably because the person who originally banned the game wanted to show his friends how cool he looked leaping over rooftops and assassinating people.
