10 Video Games That Were MASSIVE Jokes
9. Sensible Train Spotting
Got your thermos? Telephone money? Cornplasters? Neat. Shove them all in your anorak, and get on down to the platform for one of Sensible Software's more obscure titles: Sensible Train Spotting.
Only available as an Amiga Power coverdisk, the ferroequinology sim is as sedate as they come, involving nothing more than ticking off serial numbers as each engine hoves into view. Fill a card, and move onto the next one, my sad friend.
It all might seem a bit silly, but things got serious for Sensible when in 2003 Demon Star began marketing their own rail-tallying fare, Train Tracking, as the world's first train spotting game. With gameplay virtually identical to the Amiga effort, former Sensi designer Stoo Campbell made the rival product freely available to download from his website, challenging Demon Star to take them to court. Even the deathly dull world of platform-ticking can turn nasty.
