10 Video Games That Were Pulled From Digital Store Shelves (And Why)
6. Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments (And Others)
While our previous entries have revolved around just one or two games, Ukrainian studio Frogwares was unfortunate enough to have a whole bunch of its games threatened at the tail-end of 2019.
In September of that year, the company released a statement saying that some of its games were being removed from Sony's and Microsoft's storefronts, and possibly even Steam. The affected titles included Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, The Testament Of Sherlock Holmes, Magrunner: Dark Pulse, and Sherlock Holmes Versus Jack The Ripper, and interestingly, Frogwares was surprisingly candid in revealing the reason behind the removals of these particular games.
In their statement, they informed readers that Focus Home Interactive - the company responsible for publishing these titles - had refused to transfer the store listings of the affected games to Frogwares. Frogwares noted that, while they could set up new store listings, this would take months, and in the meantime, they were losing out on sales.
It was a messy situation, but fortunately, it was eventually resolved, and all of those games are once again available on digital storefronts - now published by Frogwares.
