7. Pac-Man
Loved on: Arcade cabinets - 1980 Pac-Man was a product of the 80s. A soulless, pill-munching, one-dimensional character desperately trying to outrun his demons to a soundtrack of electronic music. He is also apparently the most recognisable video game character ever, but that might be because there wasn't much competition for a long time. And because he's just a yellow circle.
Sucks because: You had to leave your house to play it. And when you did get to the arcade, what exactly were you paying for? The vague joy of attaining a high score? Seeing your initials above some other guy's that played the game? Occasionally pushing a stick in one of four directions at a time? The graphics? Pfff. I played it while researching this article and managed about 20 seconds before I fell into a coma.
