10 Video Games With Absolutely USELESS AI

8. Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy

Grand theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas.

Grand Theft Auto is without a doubt one of the most prestigious and decorated franchises in all of fiction but the same can't be said for its level of programming, well, at least not until the seventh generation of video games as GTA IV would somewhat eventually break this stigma. Somewhat.

The same can't be said for this trio of instalments in this universally acclaimed series. A series that with it's fair share of flaws, with the artificial intelligence being embedded right into the heart of it. The notoriety of killing police officers caused media backlash for it's gratuitous violence, but when the police are ramming into you for no precedented reason and the subsequent ambulance crew are too in a comedically ironic twist. Then maybe, just maybe, it is a little bit justified.

Tied in with the lack of awareness from any character that isn't the one you control. Problematic for an open-world sandbox game, of which NPC's are a staple of but, forgivable due to the industries infancy at the time.

It still feels like it could've been averted with a few simple tweaks. A few simple tweaks and maybe a complete removal of the underdeveloped "RC" missions that absolutely plagued these games with their rage inducing inadequacy.
