10 Video Games With Incredibly Steep Learning Curves
5. Dota 2
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena game, and it's one of the most serious on the planet, seeing as people play it competitively for money. Lots of money. Because of this, you may find the game hard to learn, as the people playing may not be inclined to appreciate it when you are screwing up from time to time.
That said, you can play the game in less-competitive environments, but doing so will still earn you a great deal of anger and frustration if you're a noob. The game works by pitting two teams of five players against one another on a map, where each player works to take out the other team's "Ancient."
When you show up to the game without much experience, the players on your team aren't going to be happy, and that makes learning the nuances of gameplay somewhat difficult. Imagine never stepping into a car, but being told to drive one to the airport. Dota 2 is kind of like that for new players.
Granted, once you learn how to play the game, you will find that each playthrough is going to be different. Every game you play will feature different enemies, different allies, and a different landscape, making it hard to learn, and even harder to master.
