You know you've done your job right as a game developer when you learn that what you thought was a bug actually turned out to be a realistic depiction of actual physics.

The much-loved racing simulator Assetto Corsa Competizione is renowned for its phenomenally life-like traction control systems, a system that was literally too good as developers Kunos Simulazioni realised during production.

As it turns out, the game's traction control system would cut the engine off if you shifted gears while driving over a step curb, the sheer amount of vibration caused as the tire passed over the curb overloading the traction control.

Hilariously, the developers initially thought a bug had made its way into the game, only to learn that this is actually a real-life problem posed in vehicular design, an issue they had perfectly replicated.

Even better, the developers solved the problem the same way it's solved in real life, by momentarily deactivating traction control during gear shifts. Incredible.
