10 Video Games With The Most Epic Boss Line-Ups Of All Time

1. Dark Souls 3

Dark Souls 3 is the perfection of the Souls formula, refining every aspect of the previous two games to deliver everything fans hoped for. Those who complained that bosses up to this point tended too often to fit into the category either of 'duel' and 'set-piece' battles can say no such thing about this, as every encounter feels incredibly unique and wonderfully balanced.

Bosses can pop out of nowhere as well now, and that feeling of the Curse-Rotted Tree suddenly coming to life and stomping towards you is an awesome surprise that no one was expecting at this point in the series (as is the floor falling away beneath you just a short way into the fight). Along the way, you'll also fight a congregation of deacons, a dark take on a fairytale witch, and the Pope of the Dark Souls universe.

The set-piece battles are more spectacular than ever (you'll never forget the intros to battles with High Lord Wolnir and the Nameless King), while the Abyss Watchers are a poignant follow-up to the tragic Artorias, as you battle them atop the corpses of their fellow Watchers.

From the Iudex Gundyr right up until the final showdown against the Soul of Cinder, Dark Souls 3 is a masterclass of boss battles that all games can learn from.

Taken as a whole, which game has the best roster of bosses so far? Let us know in the comments!
