10 Video Games You Constantly Have To Defend Loving

8. Mass Effect 3

DmC: Devil May Cry
BioWare

The best argument you can make about Mass Effect 3 is that the journey is more important than the destination, for though fans were understandably upset by the game's flatly underwhelming pick-a-colour ending, does that entirely invalidate dozens, even hundreds of hours of play prior?

Put the trainwreck of an ending to the back of your mind and Mass Effect 3 touts a riveting story and top-tier combat, yet ultimately any discussion about the game's merits quickly loops back around to how terrible its finale turned out.

A big part of the problem in trying to defend the game is that fans aren't really talking about the third game in isolation - the ending tainted fans' perception of the entire series, and so they take it far more personally than a single game failing to stick the landing.

As much as BioWare undeniably screwed the pooch at the final hurdle, that shouldn't instantly erradicate hours and hours of fantastic time spent with the game and the series as a whole.
