10 Video Games You Couldn't Make Yourself Finish

1. Octopath Traveler

ALIEN ISOLATION
Square Enix

Octopath Traveler was nothing if not an attention-grabbing RPG, with its unique "HD-2D" art style and a gameplay structure which allowed players to work through the eight main characters' stories in any order they saw fit.

But the problem is that the formula of each characters' chapters are incredibly familiar, ensuring that bouncing from one character to the next quickly becomes a monotonous exercise in repetition.

The same-iness of the gameplay loop is downright exhausting at times, unaided by the blandness of the dungeons and excessive length of many of the boss fights.

And so, it's little surprise that many players never made it to the end of the 60-hour story, having been well and truly worn down by its aggressive sense of repetition.

And for anyone hoping that Square Enix might retool this for the sequel, they didn't - Octopath Traveler II was basically just more of the same and so elicited the exact same complaints.
