10 Video Games You Couldn't Make Yourself Finish
2. Days Gone
Days Gone is one of the most polarising AAA games Sony has released over the past decade, for as appealing as its lush, undead-packed open world is, it's also a hell of a slog at times.
And unfortunately most of the dull stuff comes right at the beginning, with Days Gone's opening hours rarely straying from a generic open world onboarding process packed with dull, repetitive quest types.
In fact, it isn't until about the 10-hour mark that the game really hits its stride in terms of missions and characters, by which point it's fair to say that many players had already bailed out.
"It takes 10 hours to get good!" isn't much of a selling point when we've all got huge backlogs, and even if you make it through those molasses-slow opening hours, the story drags on for about another 30.
Days Gone is certainly a game which Sony Bend improved with patches post-release, but it's still one that comes with a massive upfront caveat - the first quarter-or-so of the game will test your tolerance for snoozy, formulaic open world slop.
