"I hate this question," sighed Adam Badowski during a press-conference discussing CD Projekt Red's neon-em-up Cyberpunk 2077, when asked for the ten zillionth time if The Witcher 3's wantaway-waif Ciri would be turning up in their next big hit. "We are not Kingdom Hearts," he rebuked.

It all stems from a set of cryptic comments Ciri makes when she and Geralt finally reunite in Wild Hunt. Asked about the world the novice Witcher teleports to as she escapes the clutches of the evil Eredin, Ciri describes it as a place where "people have metal on their heads," travel in flying ships, and "wage war from a distance." It's a clear and obvious reference to Cyberpunk 2077.

Though Badowski would like it to remain an Easter egg and nothing more, he conceded there are enough fans of the idea on the team that it could eventually turn out to be a canonical crossover. It's fan canon either way now.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
