Seemingly taking a cue from Dead Space, Call of Duty: Black Ops not only has a similar twist, but also decided to spoil it in a similar way. Black Ops has you hanging around with a guy named Viktor Reznov, but in the end you discover that he exists only in your mind, and that the real Viktor has been dead the entire time.

It€™s a decent twist for a Call of Duty game, if not wholly original. However, this truth behind Reznov's real fate is actually coded into the mission structure of the game. See, every level has a briefing that appears onscreen, and in that briefing is a mission designation. If you take the first letter of the designation of every level and put them together in order of appearance you get XREZNOVXXISDEDX. Take out the X€™s and it becomes clearer: REZNOVISDED.

There are many other hints peppered throughout the game pointing to toward Reznov's imaginary existence, including the fact that you are the only one speaks to him, leading other characters to react in confusion. It's one of the better twists in the Call of Duty franchise, and it's spoiled right out in the open.
