10 Video Games You Didn't Realise Shut Down In 2024
1. LittleBigPlanet 3
Hands up those who had any idea that LittleBigPlanet 3's servers were actually still online until last year?
Though the puzzle-platformer threequel was largely deemed inferior to its predecessors, it still ended up the best-selling game in the series.
Like the prior two games, it placed a heavy emphasis on players creating their own characters, objects, and levels which could be shared online with others.
And while LittleBigPlanet 3 made it to 2024 with its online servers still in tact, the wheels quickly came off when, in January of last year, a mod for the game caused players to be banned from PlayStation Network without cause.
This prompted Sony to shut the game's PS4 servers down while they dealt with the issue, but the servers remained offline until April, when Sony announced that they would remain switched off "indefinitely."
In an instant, 10 million player-created levels were wiped out, as naturally caused plenty of ire amid the franchise's loyal community. And to hammer one final nail into the coffin, LittleBigPlanet 3 was also delisted from all platforms at the end of October.
