10 Video Games You Loved As A Teen (But Should Never Play Again)
6. Enter The Matrix
Enter the Matrix was released at the height of Matrix fandom, in-between the release of the second and third Matrix movies, and the IP seemed like a can't-miss slam-dunk for a video game adaptation.
If you were a rage-filled, hormonal teenager in 2003, the game at least delivered a wealth of gravity-defying action mayhem, and the Wachowskis even filmed some extra footage with the movie's cast for inclusion in the game, including the blatant fan service of Monica Bellucci making out with various people.
But revisiting the game in more recent years reveals just how much of a rushed, thrown together hodge-podge it truly was.
Even if you can accept the fact that Neo himself isn't a playable character - you're instead left to play as either Niobe or Ghost - the gameplay is arcade-y to a fault, howlingly repetitive and, at times, annoyingly difficult due to the wonky controls.
A Matrix video game is sold on the appeal of its power fantasy, yet Enter the Matrix's clunky gameplay and abundance of crashes (irony!) ensure it's nowhere near as fun as you might remember.
For a better effort, check out the 2005 follow-up The Matrix: Path of Neo which, you know, actually lets you play as Neo and re-live classic set-pieces from the movies.
