10 Video Games You Only Like Because Everyone Else Does

8. Shadow Of The Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus is one of the games you simply must play if you want to consider yourself a serious fan of the medium. At least, that's what people involved in the industry would have you believe. Treated like the pinnacle of artistry, calling Shadow of The Colossus bad and doubting its importance would be like a film fan saying same thing about The Godfather.

And yet, while Shadow of the Colossus is clearly an important milestone and represented a major shift from the norm at the time, the gameplay itself is actually spotty as hell. It's not even the best experience created by the developers behind it, either, with Ico being a much tighter and more accomplished title overall.

There are elements of Shadow of The Colossus that really shine, but the repetitive structure, mechanically-limited gameplay and frustrating controls don't make for a perfect title.

It's just another example of a release whose reputation precedes it - you have to love Shadow of the Colossus, or you're just a CoD-obssessed casual.
