10 Video Games You Play For HOURS Before Starting
7. Kingdom Hearts II
Even the mere thought of revisiting Kingdom Hearts II is stopped dead in its tracks when remembering just how soul-obliteratingly dull its three-hour prologue is.
Before players are given control of series protagonist Sora, they're forced to play as a new character, Roxas, who is trapped in a virtual simulation of Twilight Town.
It amounts to three hours of carrying out yawn-inducing busy-work in a bland, unpopulated environment in-between watching snoozy, excessively verbose cutscenes and dialogues.
Though Roxas is extremely important to the game's story - as undeniably convoluted as it is - this was the polar opposite of the maxim "brevity is the soul of wit." In dragging itself out so aggressively, Roxas' prologue became a lightning rod for basically everything fans didn't like about the game.
If you're smart, you'll make a save as soon as you get control of Sora, allowing you to basically just treat that as the start of the game on potential repeat playthroughs.
Because even if you do genuinely enjoy the Roxas section, you might not want to play all (or any) of it again.
