10 Video Games You Should Play On Hard Mode

When the Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced, fans rejoiced.

Those fans were then less impressed to find out that the initial remake was only a portion of the original game’s storyline, and that they’d have to wait for the rest. Luckily, elation returned once a playthrough was completed in full, because that unlocks the next challenge: Hard mode.

With the increased difficulty comes a complete overhaul of the magic system. Item use is completely removed, as is health regain, besides for manually resting at a bench, meaning MP usage must be carefully monitored per chapter, and builds must be properly tailored to these constraints.

Hard also introduces multiple mode-exclusive bosses, as well as 44 extra manuscripts used to level up weapons. These are essential, as enemies are also stronger, and occasionally have entirely different abilities and attack patterns to the base game.

These changes require players to adopt an entirely new strategy for a second playthrough - one that provides brand new content, making a Hard run entirely worthwhile.
