10 Video Games You're Secretly A Fan Of

7. Mass Effect 3

Few will forget the infamous launch of Mass Effect 3, which led to a near-immediate backlash from fans who were disappointed that BioWare's climactic sci-fi threequel concluded with a simple "pick a colour" story choice, rather than the more variable outcome they'd been promised by the developer.

Players were told that their decisions across the trilogy would have an impact on how it all turned out, and ultimately, that wasn't really the case at all.

Fans were so enraged that BioWare ended up releasing a revised ending to stem the ire, even if most were still extremely disappointed by the lackluster finale.

While the response wasn't entirely unreasonable, it did nevertheless place a dark pall over a game that, aside from its final half-hour, was actually very good.

If you can forgive the sour ending - and yes, that is quite an ask - there's a 30+ hours of a brilliant sci-fi game here, with an amazing multiplayer suite to boot.

But because any wider conversation about Mass Effect 3 typically returns to angrily trashing its ending, those who can appreciate its wider merits tend to keep it to themselves.
