10 War Video Games You Must Play Before You Die
7. Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 effectively bridged the gap between the "classic" earlier Battlefield games and the series' more contemporary efforts, which began with 2011's Battlefield 3.
And though the multiplayer FPS has obviously evolved significantly in the decade-plus since this game first hit storefronts, even when played today - yes, the PC community is still active - it's a ludicrously entertaining orgy of chaos.
At the time of its release, the game was widely renowned for its use of the Frostbite 1.5 engine, allowing for an unprecedented amount of environmental destruction for an online multiplayer game.
Much like its predecessors, Bad Company 2 also gave players a huge number of combat and transport options.
This isn't to completely ignore the pretty-decent single-player campaign, but the multiplayer experience is so absurdly addictive and ingeniously designed that you'll probably struggle to pull yourself away from it.
If you're craving the characteristically snappy Battlefield gameplay without some of the more outlandish modern embellishments, this is a fantastic middle-ground offering.
