9. Class-Based Enemies Are Back
Not since 2009's AC II have we seen a real focus on enemies with defined classes denoting their attack patterns, animations and general placement on the battlefield. In that game, it meant you'd have to plan on-the-fly strategies around combinations of 'heavies' and their wide swinging axe attacks, long-range archers or more nimble swordsmen all at once.
After AC II and Brotherhood, Ubi removed the idea of enemies having so much variety, instead wanting to empower the player as they cut through small platoons of them in a single motion.
Now with Origins, we know enemy classes are returning (thanks to a hands-on writeup from an E3 show floor-attendee), and they'll be split into archers, a 'berserker' type and more standard swordsmen.
It's much the same divisions as AC II, but coupled with Origins' new combat system, should completely change how you approach - or try your best to stay away from - melee encounters.
