Adrenaline-soaked boss battles with opponents the size of a small country have been a God of War staple since the PlayStation 2 era, and the new game won’t be flying in the face of tradition.

Speaking to The Know, Barlog confirmed that the new God of War will retain the series’ penchant for spectacle with even bigger boss fights - and that’s saying something considering Kronos’s index finger filled the entire screen.

The game’s debut trailer has already teased at least one of those boss fights as a Skyrim-esque dragon looms large overhead after Kratos concludes his hunting lesson.

Eagle-eyed fans may also have noticed what appears to be a landscape-spanning snake, subtly slithering around in the background - this is likely to be the Midgard Serpent, also known as 'Jormungandr' or 'the World Serpent'. Far less excitingly, it could just be a really crap river.
