10 Ways Grand Theft Auto Lied To Us

10. Sasquatch

Ok, this isn't really a lie in the true sense of the word, more of a misdirection, but that is why it takes the measly and paltry twentieth place on this list. The Sasquatch, otherwise known as Bigfoot, or (in stranger corner's of the internet) Hairy Al - No, we couldn't find out why, either - is a resident easter egg in the Grand Theft Auto games. First appearing in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (in a manner of speaking) and becoming a fully realised character in Grand Theft Auto V with a short stop off in Rockstar's other hit franchise Red Dead Redemption, it looks like the myth of the Bigfoot is here to stay. The lie, however, requires a little context to define - as all the best lies do. It was long rumoured (officially unofficially by Rockstar themselves around the time of the games release) that a Bigfoot could be found in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in the Back O' Beyond forested area of the game. After many fruitless weeks of searching and accusatory forum threads across the internet Rockstar eventually admitted that the Bigfoot was a lie and that Hairy Al was not present in the game. They did mention that something was out there to be found though, and so the search continued - to no avail. So valued was the lie by Rockstar that Big Foot is listed in the Special Thanks section of the Credits inside San Andreas' manual. In a remarkable turn of events, the lie eventually became truth. With the release of Grand Theft Auto V the Bigfoot did indeed return and could be found stalking the hills and valleys of Los Santos, both in a Strangers and Freaks mission and as a wild easter egg popping up in the players thermal scope. A fitting turn of events then, as the Bigfoot is forever emblazoned on the county seal of Los Santos.
