10 Weird Video Game Concepts That Totally Should've Sucked

8. Octodad: Deadliest Catch

How about a game where you play as an octopus who is living a normal life with a human family; a family who don't actually realise he's a cephalopod. Yes, the concept for Octodad does sound a bit like whoever came up with it was on a lot of drugs, but the joy in this physics-based game comes from watching Octodad flail around hopelessly, destroying all in his path like some kind of force of nature. All the while his family watches this and only shows mild suspicion that something may be amiss. Controlling Octodad as he attempts to complete his various household chores can be both incredibly frustrating and totally hilarious. A similar mechanic is used in games such as QWOP and Surgeon Simulator, but Octodad implements it better, and definitely with funnier consequences. If you want a game you can laugh at, and one which manages get that mix of challenging and fun just right, then give Octodad: Deadliest Catch a go.
