Oh, Attitude Era, there are so many things about you that would absolutely bewilder a time traveler from 1987. Done with the somewhat puritanical ways of the Rock N Wrestling era, Vince McMahon started putting in as much over-the-top sex and violence as censors would let him get away with.

A shining example of how ridiculous and/or low-brow WWE programming became during this era, Al Snow reached the peak of his popularity with the fans by bringing a mannequin head to the ring with him and using it as a weapon in Hardcore matches.

He also had a nice back-and-forth with the fans where Snow asked the crowd "What does everybody want?" and they responded, jubilantly, "Head!" It was hilarious when you were fifteen.

Wanting to satiate fans' craving for Head, developers decided to incorporate Al Snow's prop into the game, not as a weapon, but as an actual playable character.

This led to an absolutely terrifying intro segment where Head appeared on the entrance ramp, nothing but a pair of boots, floating hands, and the disembodied cranium controlling the appendages.

Head even had her own catchphrase, spoken like Kermit the Frog on PCP: "Why suffer from insanity when you can enjoy it?" the floating head shrieked.

Why?
