10 WEIRDEST Video Game DLCs We Can't Believe Exist
7. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Horse Armour
No collection of weird and wonderful video game DLC products would be complete without the original misfit itself - Oblivion's Horse Armour.
Hitting the world of gaming back in 2006, Bethesda stepped into the spotlight when they positively wrote the book on weird ways to try and take gamers' money. Downloadable content was a new thing back then, back when you needed an assortment of calculators and conversion rates to figure out the price of goods from Xbox Live points.
Players could spend around £2.50 for a beautiful set of armour for their trusty steed, available in elven gold, and silver steel variations. (Well, they'd get one set, any more that you wanted would cost you in-game currency.) The armour will double the health of most horses, rather than apply any kind of protection from damage, meaning your trusty old nag could indeed still perish while wearing this expensive attire.
Bethesda insist that the horse armour helped contribute to making their future dlc packs so good. Everything that came afterwards was resting on the (albeit rocky) foundation that these glittery ponies built.
