10 Worst Areas In Dark Souls
4. Lost Izalith
Despite the praise that the original Dark Souls received, there were some signs that parts of it had been rushed and suffered in the crunch time of development.
The worst offender by far was Lost Izalith. This lava-strewn nightmare was filled with odd, overly-bright textures that were painful on the eyes and the whole area lacked the polish that the rest of the game had. There have been some very vocal complaints about the Remaster and this area reflects the back-and-forth nature of community reaction pretty well - although the lava was made a little less painful to look at, it was still garish and many were disappointed.
The area is full of old enemies being re-used. In particular, the Capra and Taurus Demons that served as stand-alone bosses in the early game are here as mob enemies.
Once you have the Orange Charred Ring from the Centipede Demon, you can run on lava, but the constant sound effect is distracting.
Add into this that the boss of the area is the infamous Bed of Chaos, notorious for its unfairness especially when compared to the rest of the game, and you have an area that few enjoy or look forward to.
