10 Worst Areas In Dark Souls
2. Blighttown
If you combine all the pain that the swamp area in Farron inflicted on you but up the ante even further, then you would come up with Blighttown.
In the lower areas, the swamp builds up poison and is full of Leeches, Mosquitoes and Barbarians that throw boulders at you all while you forcibly slow-walk through the mire.
If that doesn't seem like fun, then there are Barbarians with clubs, Blowdart Snipers that inflict toxic and flaming Dogs available in the upper levels. Most enemies here try to poison you, and due to the point in the playthrough when you are meant to get here, you will have to walk back through it all again to escape since you can't warp.
In addition to issues with enemies and mechanics, this area was infamous for causing the framerate to plummet and render it nearly unplayable. There was also strange killbox placement, where falls that should be easily survivable would result in your death, and earlier patches allowed for some frankly insane drops that didn't.
If you want to ring the Bell of Awakening, then you're going to have to come through here and kill Quelaag, unless you want to use cheats and glitches.
