10 Worst Boss Battles In Final Fantasy History - Ranked

4. Demon Wall – Final Fantasy IV

final fantasy IX necron
Square Enix

Demon Wall hits your characters with relatively weak attacks in FFIV, all while slowly creeping towards you for an inevitably frustrating insta-kill attack to the entire party. Because of the enemy's high amount of HP, it becomes a race against time to kill the thing.

While FFXII's Yiazmat at least offers some variety and a chance to pause the battle throughout, and FFXV's Adamantoise – while dull – is simply a battle of attrition (plus he looks cool) – Demon Wall manages to combine the relentless monotony constantly attack, with the stress of an enemy moving ever closer towards that game over screen.

It was bad enough in the original version when it had 20,000 HP and our party had to forsake most healing magic to just hit it with everything it had until the wall came crumbling down. In the 3D version, Square Enix decided to go even further, giving the Demon Wall a whopping 100,000 HP.

Talk about tiresome!
