10 Worst Controller Designs Ever

These awful controllers could have put gamers off for life.

Prior to a console's release there's always a lot of talk surrounding the hardware of the device. Does it have x amount of RAM? What resolution can it output to? Can it run x game? However, no matter how powerful the console, or how fantastic the exclusive releases are, it's all null and void if the controller is complete crap. We've all been in the position of going to a friends house and being handed the weird, third-party controller to play with. Between the unresponsive buttons and hand-cramping design, it can be frustrating to watch someone else gaining a clear advantage with a well-made, purpose-built controller. There's no bigger dampener on your gaming fun than not feeling in full control. Beyond scheap knock-offs of popular devices, mainstream controller design has vastly improved in recent years, partly due to the smaller pool of consoles on the market. However, this list takes a look at the absolute worst offenders of bad controller design through history, be it through poor build quality, shameful design oversights, or just outright weird concepts. These are the controllers that are so questionable in design, that they have the potential to put a newcomer off of gaming for life.
