Near the end of 2013, things were looking up for the Assassins Creed series. Black Flag managed to shake the franchise up to a surprising extent, thanks to its refreshing pirate theme and extensive naval combat. Sadly, Assassins Creed: Unity didnt manage to live up to its predecessors brilliance. Not only did it see a return to the tired formula that had plagued the series until Black Flag, but it was also filled with game-breaking bugs. Unity had clearly been released a few months too soon, as evidenced by the characters without faces, dodgy collision detection, and missing textures. Fans werent happy, and Ubisoft themselves admitted the games release had been really, really damaging for the company.
