Notable Launch Games: Genji: Days of the Blade Resistance: Fall of Man Ridge Racer 7 Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom Humorously enough, the PlayStation 3's launch situation is actually quite similar to the Xbox One's. Like the Xbox One, the PlayStation 3 mixed some good games (Resistance: Fall of Man) with disappointing ones (Ridge Racer 7 and Genji: Days of the Blade) and it even released after its competition with a higher price. While there's an argument that Microsoft deserves a lower ranking for not learning from the mistakes of their rival, the truth of it is that the PlayStation 3's lineup was even worse if for no other reason that it only offered 14 games at launch compared to the Xbox One's 22. Of course, it certainly didn't help that the PlayStation 3's lineup included some truly awful games such as the aforementioned Genji and the hack and slash bore-fest that was Untold Legends. Debuting at the exorbitant price of $499 for its base system and an astounding $599 for the larger model, Sony must have really been hoping that people were looking for a Blu-Ray player as the games meant to sell the PS3 at launch were woefully unprepared to do so.
