10 Worst Mistakes Ever Made By Video Game Companies

1. The Nintendo Wii U

Hours and hours could be spent trying to come up with a more specific heading about what the exact mistake Nintendo made with the Wii U was.

Do you focus on the bizarre controller? The abandonment of features that made the Wii a success? The lack of third-party support? In the end, it seems that just about every decision Nintendo made in relation to their latest console was a disaster.

So there it is, the Wii U is just one massive mistake. Yes, it has the usual roster of lovely Nintendo games that you won't find anywhere else, and no it doesn't need to have the graphical prowess of rival consoles to compete with them, but it's a console that screamed 'identity crisis' from the start, with the community (many of them casuals who jumped onboard with the welcoming Wii) not sure about how the console worked, what kind of controller it required, or even whether it was actually a console or just a Wii add-on.

The Wii U felt like neither a fully-fledged home console, nor was its controller a fully-fledged tablet, and in trying to appeal to several markets, it spread itself too thinly, and its failure makes the upcoming Nintendo NX something of a last-chance saloon for Nintendo home consoles.
