Sportsfriends is a collection of retro styled minigames put together to play locally with a group of friends with no sort of online mode to speak of. A lack of online on a game that is already multiplayer only is clearly an issue, but the developers stated that they wanted the game to be played locally to help with the party vibe they were trying to build up. With something like Wii Sports you could at least play by yourself against the computer, but that was a no-go with Sportsfriends. Either have a friend willing to play, or you can't do anything. Releasing a game to your subscription service you can't even play unless you have guests over is pretty terrible in my book, but the developers did manage to do something neat that I'd like to commend them for. To play the full game you would have needed six expensive controllers, but for the people who weren't willing to spend $300 on an indie game, you could go into the settings and allow two people to share a single controller. A neat idea - and something other developers could take note of - but still useless until you had people willing to play.
Any time I'm not writing, I'm likely arguing about children's cartoons with strangers on the internet or staring at my ceiling and wondering where it all went wrong.
