10 Worst Power-Ups In Gaming History

7. Infinite Knife - Resident Evil 2 Remake

If we assume that power-up stands for power upgrade, then this entry is A-okay. Though, it’s easily the furthest from a traditional power-up you’ll find on the list.

Regardless of semantics, let’s break down what Resident Evil 2’s knife really is. In essence, there are a few items, such as: grenades, flashbangs and knives, which can be used when you’re grabbed. The idea is that you can quickly use these items in a very limited fashion.

You put the grenade in a zombie’s mouth, it’s gone. You use the knife animation a few times, it breaks or more commonly, you just leave it in the zombie’s head and run the hell away.

This is exactly why the infinite durability knife in Resident Evil 2’s remake is the worst power-up the game offers.

Infinite ammo, running shoes, stronger weapons, x-ray glasses, Resident Evil is no stranger to awesome upgrades. Yet, an infinite knife becomes somewhat redundant when, as soon as you stab someone to get out the grab animation, you leg it and forget all about the thing.
