7. Dead Rising 3
Dead Rising is not a mega series, but it also not a franchise to be scoffed at. The series has done solid numbers in the past and it is the kind of franchise that will act as a more than decent support for the Xbox One. Games are what sell consoles and having a series like Dead Rising amongst their library will be fairly reassuring for Microsoft. The first game was an Xbox 360 launch title, but Dead Rising 2 went multiplatform, giving Sony a taste of the action. But it seems that Capcom have been convinced to cut them out of the deal this time. Microsoft obviously believe that a cultural zombie fatigue hasn't set in yet as I am sure they will have spent a pretty penny securing the franchise back exclusively. Developer Capcom Vancouver have said some questionable things about the game's direction, saying that the game needed to appeal to the Call of Duty demographic to succeed. That is quite an odd statement about a game that is not a first person military shooter, as well as being part of a series that in the past has taken itself about as seriously as a 5 year old's birthday party. However, it looks like maybe these comments were a little misleading and the games silly side seems to be shining through a little bit more in later press releases. Here is hoping that they have figured out the important balance between fun and 'heft', providing an Xbox One experience worth playing.
