If you're a gamer and you've ever trawled YouTube during hours of procrastination, then chances are good you'll have encountered a few of the many great game music cover versions on offer - provided by other nerds with too much time on their hands, but with talent to go along with it. Gameplay Medley (Super Mario Bros.)

There probably isn't a video game with music as iconic as Super Mario Bros. Instantly recognisable to any gamer, the Mario series has largely kept the same classic tunes over the years, riffing on them in interesting ways rather than re-writing them completely. Here is a clip of somebody completing the original platformer in just over five minutes, during which you'll hear all the well-loved sounds.
