9. What State Is Final Fantasy VII's Remake In?

Back in April, fans discovered that the oft-debated full remaster of Final Fantasy VII was not only going to be released in episodes, but that Square Enix were treating each instalment as a "full scale game".

They're touting it as "the only way" to do the original game justice, once you consider upgrading all the locations, character renders, items etc. and giving them a modern lick of paint, but you have to believe it's also because they can then charge full price for each one, too.

This whole remake project has been an increasingly poorly planned debacle - director Tetsuya Nomura didn't even know he was involved until his name went out on the trailer - leading to a general feeling that the team are biting off more than they can chew.

What state is Final Fantasy VII's remake in, especially when FF XV is also releasing later this year? Who knows, but hopefully the first of whatever length those episodes are going to be is in the can, and we'll get to see it.
