11 Former Wii U Exclusives The Nintendo Switch Can Save
1. Super Smash. Bros
Outside of the highly anticipated Pokemon Switch or Pokemon Stars, Super Smash Bros. for Switch is the most discussed and wished-for game among the Nintendo faithful. Smash for Wii U brought its fair share of innovations. Mii fighters, amiibo support, third-party characters as DLC… all of these things are possible on Switch and more.
The biggest uncertainty remains about controls. Those who disliked the Wii U gamepad or didn't get a Pro controller opted for GameCube controllers with a 4-way adapter to get that classic Melee experience. The Joy-Cons can of course give instant versus battles, but their small size will be a problem for long-time Smash players, even if you clip the strap to the side.
Then there's the issue of the roster: Brawl had Solid Snake and the Pokemon Trainer yet Smash Wii U took it way further by providing new characters plus Ryu, Cloud Strife and Bayonetta as DLC. Can Smash for Switch find a balance? Regardless, it will be a big hit: everyone's hoping there will be control configurations players will actually like.
