11. Call of Duty: Ghosts
I wanted to start with the biggest series, probably, of all time. Sure, there's Grand Theft Auto and Mario, but in terms of sales, COD is the biggest. I wanted to get the most predictable game out of the way. That's not to say that Ghosts will be a bad game - on the contrary. I think the COD games are usually quite good, for what they are, though I'm not a huge online gamer, so their appeal and lasting potential is quite low for me. I'm sure Ghosts will be a good game, but just how different is it from current-gen COD? From the trailers we've seen, not very. The first reveal, at the Xbox One event, showed a developer log, with creators talking about the game. The biggest things taken from that demo were the dog, leaning around cover and fish that move when you approach. Activision talked like these were ground-breaking features, but dogs aren't unusual in games, shooters have allowed for leaning around cover for a long time, and fish moved from you in GTA: San Andreas! In my opinion, it was not an impressive demo at all. The trailers and demos for Battlefield 4, however, look amazing. The huge destructive maps with various vehicular transports add to the already impressive multiplayer. That being said, I felt Battlefield 3 had better multiplayer than COD as well, but it seemed more like a passing fad for gamers. It seems like COD just has too big a fanbase for it to be toppled by Battlefield, no matter how different they are. Call of Duty: Ghosts will undoubtedly be a good game and sell unimaginable numbers. It will also sell many Xbox Ones, as they're being bundled together; therefore its place atop the video game mountain looks set to continue.
