11 Most Notorious Gaming Sequel Set-Ups That Never Followed Through
4. Haven: Call Of The King - All Chained Up
Haven revolves around the evil Lord Vetch, a tyrant who has spread a virus throughout the universe to enslave everyone in his path, as they require his antidote to stay alive. Protagonist Haven has dreams of a bell called the Golden Voice which can cure everyone of their infection, and sets off on his quest to find King Athellion and put Vetch out to pasture. However, for what appears to be a colourful and light adventure game, Haven features one of the bleakest endings in recent video game history, all the more so because there's no prospect of a sequel. The game ends with Vetch chaining the King and Haven to a giant rock and leaving them there. As Vetch escapes, The King is dead and Haven is left utterly helpless. If you manage to 100% the game, there's the promise of an alternate ending, which really just turns out to be a congratulations screen which just poses to the player all the questions that have already been bugging them, and leaves an e-mail address to send your thoughts and suggestions. Depressing on so many levels.
